Privacy Policy

1. Summary

Dashboardesk (“we”, “us”) publishes a free Java tutorial website at dashboardesk.com. We collect as little personal information as we possibly can while still operating the site. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We use a third-party analytics service to understand which tutorials are read and from which countries; that service may set cookies on your browser. You can opt out of analytics at any time.

This page explains, in plain English, what information we collect, why we collect it, where it goes, and how you can control it. We have written this policy to be readable, not to be a wall of legalese. If anything is unclear, please contact us and we will explain.

2. Information We Collect

We collect two kinds of information: information you give us directly (when you fill in the contact form) and information collected automatically when you browse the site (server logs and analytics).

When you submit the contact form, we collect the name, email address, subject and message you provide. We use this solely to reply to you. We do not add you to any marketing list and we do not share your email with third parties.

When you browse the site, our web server records standard request logs: the URL you requested, the date and time, your approximate region (derived from your IP address), the referring page, your browser user-agent, and an anonymous visitor identifier. These logs are kept for up to 30 days and are used only for security, debugging and aggregate traffic analysis.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to: (a) operate, maintain and improve the website; (b) reply to messages sent via the contact form; (c) detect, prevent and respond to fraud, security incidents or other prohibited activity; and (d) produce aggregate, anonymised statistics about which tutorials are most read and from which regions, so we can prioritise future tutorials.

We do not use your information to build a profile of you for advertising, to sell to third parties, or to train machine-learning models that could identify you personally.

4. Cookies & Analytics

We use a privacy-respecting analytics provider to understand which tutorials are read and where readers come from. The analytics service may set one or more first-party cookies on your browser to distinguish unique visitors. These cookies do not contain your name, email or any personally identifying information.

If you prefer not to be tracked, you can: (a) enable “Do Not Track” in your browser — we honour it; (b) install a content-blocking extension such as uBlock Origin; or (c) decline cookies in your browser settings. None of the tutorials on the site require cookies to function.

5. Third-Party Services

The website uses the following third-party services that may process limited technical data:

• Web fonts: Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) to serve the Inter and JetBrains Mono typefaces. Google receives your IP address and the page URL when fonts load.
• Analytics: a privacy-respecting analytics provider (we recommend Plausible or a self-hosted equivalent) receives aggregated, anonymised visit data.
• Hosting: our hosting provider stores the website files and serves HTTP requests; they have access to standard server logs.

We do not embed social-media widgets, advertising networks or comment systems that track you across other sites.

6. When We Share Your Information

We share your information only in these limited situations: (a) with our hosting and analytics providers as described above; (b) when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a valid legal request, to protect the safety of any person, or to respond to a security incident; and (c) in connection with a sale, merger or transfer of all or part of our business, in which case we will notify you before any transfer of personal data.

We never sell your personal information, and we never share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

7. Your Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with data-protection laws, you have rights over your personal data. These include the right to access the personal data we hold about you, the right to request its correction or deletion, the right to object to processing, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are a California resident, note that we do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and you do not need to make an opt-out request.

8. Children

The website is intended for general audiences interested in learning Java programming, including older children and students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We will not reduce your rights under this policy without notifying you on the homepage first.
